On the 14th of May, 2016, IEEE Delhi Section completed its 40 years. To mark this milestone, the section organised a celebration for the same at BVICAM, New Delhi from 4 p.m. onwards. The guest of honour was Shri K. Ramakrishan, Director, IEEE R-10, who graced the occasion with his presence. The celebration commenced with a session for Young Professionals wherein, Kartik Misra, Chairperson, Delhi Section Young Professionals, delivered a talk on “How to make the best use of your Young Professionals membership”. The session covered the tangible and non-tangible benefits of Young Professionals membership for students as well as gave the attendees an insight into its functioning and the benefits that one can access through this membership. This was followed by a fifteen minutes talk by Mr. Nivas Ravichandran, R10 Young Professionals Coordinator, who spoke about the events that were lined up by the Region 10 committee and shed some light on the merits associated with attending these events. He drew participants’ attention to the R10 Young Professionals website as well as encouraged and motivated all the members to volunteer.
After this, a Myers-Briggs personality test was conducted for the attendees, which is an introspective, self-reporting questionnaire designed to indicate psychological preferences of how people perceive the world and make decisions. Next in queue was an ice-breaking session, which involved clicking pictures of a list of tasks that were assigned to the participants. The group which posted photos of all the tasks on the IEEE Young Professionals Delhi Section page were adjudged the winners. This was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants. The event continued after tea with a panel discussion on the topic “Future of Technology : Vision 2020”. The panelists discussed their point of views on the issue and later opened it for the attendees which was followed by felicitation of Delhi Section members by the Chief Guest. The evening concluded with a mesmerizing cultural program.
The event brought together members from across the domains to meet and network at a common platform, along with celebrating the completion of 40 years of IEEE Delhi Section.
